I translated this book in 2015 for Persian-speaking teenagers in Iran. I believe that due to various social and political reasons, these teenagers are unable to access high quality psychological services.
What is Bulimia nervosa?
Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of binge eating. It followed by compensatory behaviors such as self-induced vomiting, excessive exercise, or the use of laxatives. Individuals with bulimia often have a distorted body image and an intense fear of gaining weight. The cycle of bingeing and purging can become a compulsive and secretive behavior that individuals feel unable to control. This disorder can have serious physical and emotional consequences, including electrolyte imbalances, tooth decay, gastrointestinal problems, and depression. Finally, Treatment for bulimia typically involves a combination of therapy, nutritional counseling, and medication to address both the physical and psychological aspects of the disorder.
